    • Crown and caps refer to the same restorative treatment. The proper term is “crown” because it covers the whole crown of the tooth. A tooth typically requires a crown for different reasons. It is badly broken down (decayed or broken down existing filling). Has been filled several times during the patient’s life and the tooth has become weakened because of the stress of chewing. Has been treated with a root canal and has a temporary filling. Crack tooth syndrome, which is when a cusp or multiple cusps of the teeth have cracks which when chewing the tooth actually flexes and causes discomfort.
    • Inlay or Onlay when a tooth doesn’t need a crown but the restoration is too large for a composite filling.
    • Bridges are fixed (not removable) prosthetics to fill in spaces of missing teeth, or teeth that are loose due to bone loss or periodontal involved.
    • Dentures are generally classified as partial or full. Partial dentures are designed to replace a small section of teeth, and help prevent existing teeth from shifting position. Full dentures replace a full arch of teeth such as upper denture or lower denture. There are different kinds of dentures and partials depending on your current or future situation.
